Burg & The Vagabond Choir  was born off the back of a 4-year journey.

Firstly revisiting some old raw songs from the first incarnation in 2012 of 'Burg' and then through the progression which became 'The Back Porch Band',

A brief spell into semi-retirement to concentrate his efforts on his main outfit The Electric Shakes, Guernsey born Burg now residing in Dorset, set his acoustic guitar to one side, but his mind was constantly wandering and so the journey subconsciously carried on. Past death and on through an emotional few years. Lockdown, illness, heartbreak and loss, elation, realization, love, the makings of a whole new set of songs, and the collaboration with a new set of musicians whilst reuniting with old friends. What came out of it was a new album.

Blending Dark Roots and Classic Folk, Country Blues and Americana and the odd murder ballad thrown in for good measure,

'Whilst The Iron Is Cold A The Heart Is Sore'  was self released in March 2023 and the launch of it performed live inside a 13th Century Church in Dorset, with a video for the song 'Down' preceding it. A whole year goes by and more Vagabonds join the fold, various shows and Festivals ensued and with some travelling far and wide, unsure of their final destination and all unsure what flavours this new concoction would have.  Old faces also returned to join the march. , now a dark and twisted funeral procession with its feet firmly rooted in the sorrowful soil, but ... nevertheless still conjuring up a blend of musical vagrancy of the highest variety and all toward a positive goal.

New music will land in Summer 2025, and will see a new single and a video released for the song.

'Lover's Grave' 

You may find Burg and his bunch in the deepest darkest depths of Dorset and its neighbouring towns where they currently reside, in a festival field somewhere off the beaten track, or bellowing truth's whilst campfire's spit.

Hollering about the effects of demon water and tales of oblivion and singing songs of hope for the hopeless.
Led by a lost island troubadour with his heart on his cuff.
